A Word from Our Director
Countdown to Christmas
The countdown is on! Each day
we are reminded how many days of shopping are left before Christmas! I wonder
what it would be like if we knew how many days we had left until the second
coming of Christ!
Would there be the same kind of busyness? Excitement? Spending? Decorating?
Partying? Or would our churches take on a new kind of urgency that transcends
the "budget crisis" many are facing today.
Would we in fact start to really be about "kingdom business"—that of reaching
the lost for Christ? Would we stop having so many meetings, so many debates, so
many calls for commitment and giving and just get going for Christ? It would be
interesting and perhaps that is just what our Lord and Savior thinks each day as
we major on the minors and minor on the majors!
Now hear me clearly, I am not scolding, that is not my responsibility, BUT I
want to encourage you to see the larger picture, to dream big, to launch out
into the deep as some would say, and to spend less time with the little stuff
that won't really matter one month from now.
So as you prepare for the holidays, spend some time seeking the mind of Christ
in all that you do. Invite Him into your planning, preparing, and invite others
to come to know the Christ child of Bethlehem who is the Savior of the world!
Praise God, he comes to us each day in the fullness of his Holy Spirit.
Every day is a celebration of our eternal life in Christ! Have a blessed
Christmas and a peaceful New Year!
