50-Day Spiritual Adventure
Encourage accelerated spiritual growth for all ages
through a "50-Day Spiritual Adventure" during the 7 weeks leading up
to Easter. Devotional guides for adults, youth and children focus on a central
theme and guide persons in basic spiritual disciplines. "Adventures"
seek to open their lives to the amazing reality of Christ's presence and better
represent him to others.

WHAT'S INVOLVED?
 | The best preparation is for the pastor or a lay leader
to attend a Pre-Adventure conference (often held in the fall at a variety of
locations in the US and Canada). |
| If it is not possible to attend the Pre-Adventure
Conference, a copy of the Adventure leader manual should be ordered. |
| Appoint a coordinator to publicize the Adventure and
handle materials. |
| Begin to publicize the Adventure through announcements
and the bulletin several weeks before it begins. |
| Distribute Adventure journals the week before the
Adventure begins. |
| Follow the weekly themes in Sunday worship and messages
as the Adventure unfolds. |
DO'S AND DON'TS
| DO......have your pastor or another church leader
attend one of the Pre-Adventure Conferences, if at all possible. |
| Do......begin planning for the Adventure in the fall so
that publicity can be done effectively and materials ordered in time. |
| DO......coordinate Sunday messages and worship services
to fit the Adventure theme reinforce personal involvement. Excellent worship
resources, message ideas and other suggestions are including in the
Adventure leader manual. |
| DON'T......forget to invite youth and children to get
involved in the Adventure. |
