Family Month
Offer special events, classes, and messages during a
month-long focus on family and human relationships.
BEST SUITED FOR: Any Size
Congregation
WHAT'S INVOLVED?
 | Determine what family or relationship needs that you
want to address (marriage and singleness, parenting, controlling anger,
etc.). |
 | Plan messages and resourcing around those needs. |
 | Include one or two just-for-fun events like a pizza
party, ice cream social, musical group, or talent show. |
 | Advertise Family Month and its events broadly in the
community through posters, news releases, and radio announcements. |
DO'S AND DON'TS
 | DO.....involve key church leaders in planning—pastor,
Sunday school superintendent, youth officers and sponsors, etc. |
 | DO.....include a variety of messages and events that
will appeal to persons in various stages of life. |
 | DO.....include refreshments or a meal with one or two
of the beginning events. (A youth fundraising chili supper or ice cream
social before the first film of a series will greatly increase attendance.) |
 | DO.....take offerings to defray costs of any special
events. |
 | DON'T.....forget to send letters of invitation to
prospective and inactive members |
RESOURCES NEEDED
 | A wide variety of videos, films and curriculum are
available on family and relationship themes. Look at a Christian film and
video catalog for recommendations. |
COST
 | Extra costs are totally or largely covered through the
offerings received at any special events. |
