"Adopt-a-Highway"

Build favorable name recognition for your congregation participating in your state or community's  "Adopt-a-Highway" program. The church promises to clean up at least two miles of state road every three months. By doing so, many state departments of transportation/highways will post a sign on the highway stating that your congregation is part of the "Adopt-a-Highway" program.  Also a great servant evangelism project.

BEST SUITED FOR: Any Size Congregation

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

bulletOne enthusiastic person.
bulletContact Department of Highways and promise to clean up at least two miles of state road every three months. Must be in an area where the Adopt-A-Highway program is used.
bulletStore orange colored vests and set dates for trash pick up. Phone highway department to determine when to pick up trash bags and whether more are needed.
bulletHave the congregation aware of the signs along the highway with the church's name.

DO'S AND DON'TS

bulletDO......rejoice in the highway department advertising the church.
bulletDON'T......use a leader who is full of enthusiasm for only a short period of time. This project goes for years.

RESOURCES NEEDED: Three or four able dedicated people for two hours every three months.
