Overview
The practice of biblical hospitality can help a
congregation grow, but hospitality is more than just another program
of the church. True biblical hospitality is central to the
spiritual life and affects all of our relationships, including those
within our congregations, families, and communities. In this new
workshop offered by New Life Ministries, Hospitality &
Spirituality: Creating a More Caring Church and Society Following
9/11 helps pastors and other church leaders understand the
spiritual basis of hospitality and how its practice can have a
liberating impact on all that we do, including learning to move past
our fears when they threaten to immobilize us.
During the workshop, the tragic events of 9/11 will be addressed, and
participants will learn the importance of reaching out to others
from different religious, cultural, and generational backgrounds. Attendees will also learn how to look at styles of
worship and other congregational issues through the lens of
hospitality. The workshop leader will provide strategies for
nurturing congregational growth as well as for changing lives
through the power of biblical hospitality. The workshop relates
closely to the book Hospitality: Life in a Time of Fear by
Steve Clapp and Fred Bernhard, who also co-authored the popular book
Widening the Welcome of Your Church. Steve or Fred will be
the presenter at each workshop.
Each attendee will receive a packet of workshop
materials to take home with them.
